Reviews
I can 't believe all the positive reviews about this machine. I 've been for more than 16 months now and I hope to do over again because i ' d be buying something else. R rPros: rVery easy to learn for beginners (my first machine, I learned to use it to watch videos at Starbucks 'web site, which is far superior to their manual). RLooks good. RHeats up quickly. Rother reviewers complained about the water tank sensor, but I haven 't have a problem with it. RKeeps I spent a lot of money in a coffee shop. R rCons: rthe portafilter filled with water every time and make a serious mess. Rif you pull two shots, one rich and the other only half-filled. Rif you pull a shot, espresso is still coming from both sides of the portafilter. RAttempts to adjust the two previous problems have failed, so I never use the shot glasses again. I either use a cup or measuring cup. Rthe steam wand away a * lot * of water before the steam. Ryou portafilter to dismantle a separate table with a knife or screwdriver to clean it, make clear that serious complications. Rthe long I 've had the machine, I get less foam. I think the steam wand started to shoot out even more water during steaming. Rthe cup warmer on top is a joke saying. This is a subtle warm. R rSummary: For the price I paid, I should have been * way * better quality. Would never recommend this machine, Although I have learned to put with it and will not change soon (budget 's tight these days!). R RUpdate: Since writing this review, the steamer had stopped working at all. Water continuously out of the wand, no matter how long I blew it. Milk will be damaged and produce foam actually zero. Given other people's problems with getting repairs done, including shipping costs both ways, I decided not to sink money into this machine because even if it 's stay I'll be spending a lot of money and still have a piece of junk machine. I 'm shopping for a different machine. Merry Xmas to me!
Siren and manuals with the problems for the 1st time user. As a lover of latte and decided to buy a siren. I am an experienced reader of manual, so I didn 't expect any problems. Few hours of struggling with directions, call the 1-800 number for help, etc.. I left in doubt of my new expensive purchase. I failed and confusing results after the following steps manually. Starters RFor, I do not know how to use the ship. Is the end of the ship submerged in milk? I depressed the button craft. So why have a stream of water and steam that comes out? Why have milk all the sirens, myself and the wall? aarg! No latte today. Will try again tomorrow.
Buy this machine as a gift for my girlfriend for her birthday. The first one did not work at all out of the box. At least it is turned on and we got the lights flashing, but wasn 't completely heater and no water through at all. We called starbucks and producers, in our case are backward and do it wrong, but the machine has a bad heating coil, so we sent one in and got a second. After about 4 days, the engine broke THAT too! 0 for 2 with this engine, now Starbucks when I called again, they said it had stopped the engine plant because there are so many problems. You may get one that works, and then it makes good coffee, but the possibility is that you won 't get the machinery working, or if you do it soon will be broken. I sent it back for a full refund (fortunately) and will look for something else.
My husband and I love our Sirena. I worked at a drive-through coffee shop for 2 years and wanted something for your home. This machine is so easy to use and I have been very poor even to maintain and still works well after a year and a half make at least one milk in the morning. It has saved us an incredible amount of time and money. I recommend it for those who want something quick and easy to use.
Sirena I've had for almost a year now, and felt it was time to speak to our experience. I have used it almost every day, sometimes making two and four glasses a day with it. I have made at least 1000 shots on it to date, and despite some mistakes in the beginning, has been pleased every time. My wife and I usually drink coffee in the morning latte and cappuccino, sometimes at night. Really has to be reliable, easy to use, and create a drink that we think beyond what we get at the local coffee shop. One tip that I learned at first was to remove the disc pressure at the bottom of the portafilter and tamp the coffee with my own hands. This does not take a little practice (I went through a pound of beans at the beginning before getting master it), but the practice has presented me with many great pictures. I use this machine in combination with the Baratza Virtuoso grinder. I also use ESE pods from time to time, a very comfortable and very easy. Froth milk does require a little practice with this machine, but it doesn 't take long to learn. R rin all, I have found interesting Sirena, machine built well make a very good picture of espresso. For the price, can 't be beat. Highly recommended.
Here 's business. The directions are horrible. I called the support line and asked them all sorts of questions. They walked me through doing a few drinks and now I 'm an expert. It 's not so difficult but if you ' re not experienced you 'll save yourself a lot of time, simply remove it from the box and drawing the line. Don t 'even bother w / the stupid manual or directions.
Read the whole book twice and read the online FAQ 's and Starbucks. And Woot! It 'sa little chick, picky, but works well once the hang of it.
The Sirena is a beautiful machine and have some personalization features. A quick search around the internet will lead to better performance and better tasting coffee. You will learn its quirks and how to avoid them. RAll R was working fine until one day I turned the steam wand a little more than usual and steam quickly dissipated to nothing. The button that controls the vapor or stitches to keep spinning, instead of opening / closing the door to swing. After disassembly I found a source of tension that no longer hold the button to the side, and therefore the lever that controls the water pump simply rotated to a position where the button would not activate it. The liver usually runs between two equivalent points at 12:00-9:00 with 3:00, but mine was aiming for 6:00 and not turn back to a normal position. R RSO I searched online parts / repair, replacement of buttons, but no one had them. With a little ingenuity and careful use could not get the steam system working again, but the lever will fall inside, and sometimes I have to disassemble the top again to fix it. It became more trouble than it's worth. The steam engine is the weak point of a project otherwise beautiful and everyone will break eventually.
Pros: rThe siren Coffeemaker looks really great and it makes good coffee. Its body is made of aluminum and very solid. R rCons: r1) ants in the hole steel grille invalid is too small and quiet - great water sound creates a mess that makes it necessary to put in a cup or container under the brewing spout. The machine many drip water after the pump stops. R2) The machine has two buttons that can be easily programmed to make the bomb work for a certain period - Unfortunately the bombs are unreliable pump the same amount of water that undermines what could be a very useful feature. R3) the steam wand is not working properly - it will release too much water instead of steam. R4) the heat of water is too slow (at least compared to a machine Saecco Jura and I are new). ROverall machine is not worth the money - the more fancy espresso machine with a more technical design is more choice.
I received this machine for my birthday to be 08. I love the look and quality is great. We use it several times a day yet and it works great. With good quality coffee grounds, it pulls a good shot with a good head of Crema. (I found it best to work in settings double and double the amount of grinds). The steam wand has an adapter that the end is meant to automatically include the air for frothing. It works well in a whole cup's worth of cold milk cows and a cold frothing pitcher. I, however, prefer to use about a half cup of unsweetened soy milk and like many bubbles, this engine delivers only sporadically. (Hunmidity, barometric pressure, and the stars should be fully aligned.) I much like the normal steam Wands where one can control the amount of air is incorporated more or less the desired foam and Saeco would offer them in return. This is not a unique problem with Saeco less and less on home machines come Wands regular steam. I guess most home users aren 't be expected to know the milk foam. R rmy only real dissappointment with this machine, which knocked my rating down a star, is trying to get the parts replaced. I lost the support peg down the sink when cleanng the machine and of course it can not be purchased from Starbucks, it must be purchased from Saeco. Part is out of stock Saeco for at least five months. They have been out of stock pressure rubber gasket around the period of time. R rEventually the rubber gasket is damaged and must be replaced and who knows when or for how long Saeco stock it. So keep that in mind if you decide to buy this machine. The machine can be used without a pad and peg (these are a team, so don 't try to use one without the other - and it OVERRUNS Q everywhere.) Now I'm using my machine without rail tamping them and myself.
I bought this machine a few days. It is too early to write a review, but I love this machine. It 's not .. GH has the brain of the machine my local Starbucks (which by the way, can never see my face, except to buy coffee beans and syrups). I paid $ 348 for the door, he came with a burr grinder, £ 2. coffee, the barista kit (with the thermometer, foam cup, 2 cups Shot, spoon and latte, espresso spoon, oh and a nifty little organizer to keep everything good), a bottle of vanilla syrup, and 2 pounds. coffee beans. R great deal! My boyfriend doesn 't drink coffee, and I have this thing at home, and was never really in a cafe, I was impressed, I had it together and making me a vanilla latte, without reading anything more than warnings and precautions in the booklet. I was impressed, and it looks pretty on my counter. At the same time, I get up every morning to work and now make my own coffee with milk, and clean the machine and it 's party, in half the time it took me to stop by Starbucks in the morning . Not only that, I feel that since I go to Starbucks about 3 times a week, about $ 15 per week (my drinks are $ 4.76 each in its AZ). $ 350 divided by 15 is about 23 weeks. Therefore, less than 6 weeks from now, I'll be saving money by having my own machine. They sell the syrup $ 6 a bottle and a pound of espresso for about $ 9. Both should last me over a month each. So come July you'll be spending about $ 20 per month (if that - including milk) in my Database, instead of $ 60. Wow I'm addicted! RI "never again not have an espresso machine.
If your only concern is making coffee for this machine works well but is too expensive. However, if you also care about it 's ability to steam milk to stay away. Now I 'm trying to get warranty service, as steam has stopped completely. However, I really started having problems within a couple of weeks after he received. It would work inside and outside, increasingly out sometimes hot water injection into the milk with steam in it. From the standpoint of steam the milk, this is the worst team I've owned. My recommendation, shelving.
I just got it in my employee discount. I spent quite a long time trying to learn how the darn thing! About an hour. The problem I now have the portafilter leaking, and the espresso coming out only one of the regular SPOUTS (especially in pods). I made great cuppa, but didn t want it 'have a frother because it makes it hard to create your "own " foam. This will do good cuppa, I just want to make it more bubbles. I am going to try to remove itself tamper (used only for ground coffee pods not) and hopefully it will stop large (sometimes spewing) of water in my cup. I timed how long it took to make a latte from the ONE time you push the button, the time round is completed and has earned about 3 minutes and 45 sec. So, the other reviews about how long it took to warm up don 't make sense to me. I like the way it looks on the counter, it is small and light, and who doesn t 'want a BMW in your kitchen? When I update the figure the dang portafilter.
Ok - I spent hours pouring over reviews of machines before purchasing Sirena. Because I wanted to do everything just right, I took an hour after the purchase to set it up the following words of extended instructions by word. (For more experienced users, the quick set-up at work and want to have your drink fast) My first latte was amazing! I didn 't even use honey - it tasted great. R rmy first concern: long time to cook the espresso / confusion if the purpose of "self-tamper ". It took a long time for my shots to pull, almost large only. So, I completely reread all the reviews of Amazon (more than the website of the SB) and found that: r rFIRST - have major issues are likely defective machine or it is user-error. (no offense) rSECOND - there is some trial and error required for grinding, etc. RMOST IMPORTANT - if your shots pull gently (ant) only range of greater HOLE the rubber gasket (self tamper ). R rAlthough I tried removing the tamper fully as some suggested - it has made zero creme. Just by using a sewing needle to open the hole a little, my good espresso flowed out of the portafilter in seconds and is the most beautiful creme. I AM thrilled! I tested the heat of the straight shot and it was quite warm - but when added to the frothed milk to a temp of 160 or more - this is the most interesting latte I was - no doubt rival the SB! R rThis machine is useful for quality espresso, foam quality and beauty. R spirit - another thing - I agree with other Reviewers needed to drain the excess water from the steam wand before steaming nakakainis is, however, have a system. This is my way of: r r1. Turn and warm, warm While your mouth with hot water r2. When machine is ready, run 2 shots of water to heat the portafilter (not me the two most perfect use glass to hold a shot - they are tall slim glass of juice exactly right under the portafilter) r3 . Leave the portafilter connected while steaming / frothing milk r a. use one glass of juice (or another high glass) to collect the excess water from the steam wand before steaming the milk in stainless steel carafe. R b. steam / froth milk at least 160 degrees. I might be first, then foam at the top or visa versa. Frother is great! R4. Set beside the milk or heating (the heater isn 't that warm, so don ' t count on it for the "heat ") R5. Remove portafilter hot, wipe the extra water / yard and fill in for one or two shots R6. Change select your portafilter and shot size (the time taken to add your yard espresso is exactly enough to rewarm the machine) R7. Pull your shots, pour into mugs and add the milk immediately. R r ** Starbucks trains should add milk to your shots within 10 seconds for best results. That is why before frothing is important! R ri it down to a science now after only owned the machine for 4 days. If I learn anything new, will update / edit my review. I think the reviews are so useful for others considering a product or are having problems. That they helped me and hope I helped someone else! R rGod Bless and Happy Latte!
My wife and I were looking to purchased this machine around November of last year. We 've had this machine for just under a year and it has not failed us. r rwe were hesitant in purchasing this machine since it was a very expensive purchase but I 'm glad that we did. We did lots of research and finally settled on the Sirena. Our criteria was: 1. It had to be made by a reputable company espresso machine 2. Could use grounds and 3. Could use ESE pods. On paper, this machine met the criteria. It is made by Saeco a well known and well respected espresso machine manufacturer. It uses grounds as well as ESE pods without having to purchase an optional kit ESE pods like some other brands. The reason the ESE pods were important to us was the fact the most espresso makers have a long set up and clean up time. So when you 're in a rush to get to work or serve several people in a party, ESE pods are so much more convenient. r Rusinga the Sirena is very easy and straightforward. There are four buttons on the machine: the On / Off button, the one shot button, a double shot button and the steam / foam button. An easy to read gauge tells you when the Sirena is ready to make espresso. There 's even a Sirena website where you can get tips. I 've used Illy grounds and ESE pods as well as Starbucks grounds and ESE pods. In all cases the Sirena has produced great results. Be sure to clean the machine regularly to continue to get great results. R rAn added bonus of this machine is that it is beautiful. Designed by BMW DesignWorks, this machine looks like a work of art. R RNOW I make iced caramel macchiato whenever I want!
A great product, easy to use. Saves a lot of money in the long term. My wife lived at Starbucks, now she is at home. Cuts to travel for lots SBUX. Makes very good espresso. Money well spent!
I 've had my siren for about 2 months and am totally satisfied with it ' s results! But it takes some learning to master. The comments are not warranted here, and I had the need to respond. It looks good, but it 'the middle of the road machine and how it all got what you what you pay for. R rFirst, you need the rubber and rubber washer peg throw in the garbage. It 's just a game designed for people who have never pulled a shot across the ... and besides, it takes all the fun away from creating your own perfect shot. Next, you need to manipulate to buy a nice, heavy 58mm. I bought a beautiful fully stainless and for $ 25, and it is more than sufficient. Next, you need a burr quality GRINDER ... and don 't let anybody tell ya different, the right GRIND is more important than the espresso machine YOURSELF! I've said a Rancilio nice shops on Ebay for less than $ 200 (no coffee makes a cheap hobby, either). When trying to find the right grind, I found just a few clicks on the adaptation GRINDER will vary the length of the pour 5 to 10 seconds, while all my other prep was the same. I try to pour for 25 seconds and if this machine is a shot of production as well as commercial machines cost you $ $ and more. If you change coffee beans, you need to fine tune your grind to get that 25 seconds pour ... But that's the fun part of it, you 're responsible for the results. R RNOW, the steam wand ... I agree that it is not the best, but it can be tweaked to achieve to get good results. Firstly, there is no separate boiler for steam as the more expensive machines. It uses a thermal block, which carries warm water from the boiler is heated and turns it into steam. I found that rinsing the water from the steam wand first ... and then cycling the HW and steam buttons back and forth a few times without drawing are nothing, all the steam you generate 'll need enough foam creamy, velvety milk for 2 cappuccinos at once! Foaming is another art form that takes practice, but I think that is the end of the wall near the surface to stretch the milk and then bury the wand reaches up to 160 degrees. BINGO, Enjoy! R Rif you perfect cappuccino or latte every time you get a $ 4000 fully automatic. The siren is a more than adequate semi-automatic machine that allows you to be creative and show a little :-) r rA Happy tamper
My first siren, after about 2 weeks of use, stopped producing dry steam to froth my milk. I took it to starbucks and got a complete runaround and an 800 customer service number for Saeco. I called Saeco multiple times leaving numerous messages and could not get anyone to help me with this problem. I finally took the machine back to starbucks and basically said, "if you are going to put your name on this machine, you need to stand by it 's performance " .. well, that seemed to work and i was Able to exchange my original mermaid for a new one. well, i thought that was the end to my problems. Turns out, after a couple of months of using the second machine, again I no longer have any dry steam to froth my milk. I have a nice cup of espresso, and no foam to go with it. This is a lot of money to waste on a supposedly terrific machine. Please do not buy this, I am certain saeco knows the problem with this machine Which is why they wouldnt return my calls. RI am sure that Starbucks knows this as well, why do you think such an otherwise fantastic company would be so dishonest to it 's customers? There are others on amazon who have left similar reviews ... take that as a warning and take your checkbook somewhere else.
Update 7/12/09 - I replaced the foam wand with the wand in my old Starbucks Barista espresso machine (I Don 't know why they did ' t think of that before) and it works very well. Try it. R rthe enthusiasm for the use of the machine was of short duration. Less than a week after he bought the Mermaid steam pipe water jets began to milk. I prepared the machine several times just to experience the same thing. I called Saeco customer service and was told that the machine would not do that. I thought mine was an isolated incident, but after reading more comments, it seems that I was not alone. I 'm disappointed.
I really loved the design of this machine and the few times I was able to use part, espresso decided whether the "cream " you are used in a real coffee shop. Steam rthe lacked a bit 'in my opinion, though. It would not be pure all the days of steam (water would be mixed in many times even after a dry run in an empty cup) and it seems that they are not enough "bunting " and the intensity to make a good foam for more than one cup of milk. R rRegardless, the problem is that two units, both were defective. Rthe first siren I bought had a faulty switch water tank (it would stop every time they made coffee, incorrectly identifying an empty tank), after sending back and get a replacement from Amazon, the second would work at all. The unit turns on (power button lights up), but the unit does not heat up the water. The water tank for the second unit was also broken. R rI elected to send the second unit back and ask for a refund. I was not able to trust that model anymore.
Venda retail dollars that have gone into this thing for Christmas, around 500. It died after only 6 months of use. We were very good care of him, followed the manufacturer's instructions, was about 4 coffee day. Starbucks saw me Comin. RDO Become a favor, see the 1,375-Lello much cheaper. They've had for 2 months, so fast and so good. Only costs about $ 150. It seems well constructed.
I finally had to replace my beloved Barista espresso coffee maker, and I chose this because it had good reviews and replaced the Starbucks barista with this model. It took a couple of weeks for the machine to recognize that it had water in the reservoir, which was annoying, but that is no longer a problem. Heats quickly and makes it very fast, but the process of foaming is often frustrating. You must first put the wand in an empty cup, because a little 'water will come out, which will spoil the milk. E 'doesn ' t happen every time, but very often the machine to cool down during the process of foaming and spitting will suddenly be a lot of water in milk, or stop altogether, and you have to start over. And 'certainly doesn ' t like to make two jugs of milk in a row. I find the taste of my cappuccino in the morning to be at odds - probably because of the amount of water the wand makes frothing times the milk.
Machine like this, it is easy to see why Starbucks drink sales will be going down. I just got this machine but I'm so very pleased with its performance. Preparing the bomb is a bit frustrating but I quickly figured it out and he came down and running with great drink coffee from my own kitchen.
All, I was searching for a long time Starbucks barista and loved that reliable machine, but it finally wore after 7yrs. So I went to the new and improved .. (not) how many of the reviewers, I was delighted when I got the baby. It seemed to work great and I was in the semi-automatic thing. It took decent shots, a little watery, but robust. It has beautiful milk foam at first, but then came the problems. This new-fangled steam to be the real thing seems to decline. What's working, but now it's just chug along and pumps, but the steam is now diving and gurgling in the burst in the milk and not frothing milk, but only on heating. I cleaned, re-primed, they'll clean it and use a whole 1 / 2 liter milk 1%, but the same thing over and over again superheated milk shit no more foam, sucks. R rPro: r The look-and perhaps the idea of r in the concept space for beverages under the lid r Sturdy-looking r rcon: r does not work longer than 30 days and I'm on the other reviewers I am not inclined to take my chances. R Even the water container seems ready for more problems in the future. It is a weak link in the system. Has a rubber seal to go bad, that sooner or later, and begin to spill So Heavy water. Although they shared is only a thin plastic element that actually was when I tried, in the power cord. You would not normally notice, but when it came out of the machine and on the kitchen floor, it was my attention. This part of the compound will wear out over time, break or be lost over time ... :-( R rHonestly I don 't want it back, but if I'm going to spend about $ 400.00 on something that works, is less than 30 days, it a terrible value. It was supposed for the years work, not just a day.
